Pant's Remarkable Performance Amidst Adversity

In a thrilling display at Lord's, Rishabh Pant showcased his exceptional talent during the Test match against England. Coming in to bat at a critical juncture, with India reeling at three wickets for just 107 runs, Pant partnered with KL Rahul to forge a crucial 141-run partnership. This innings was particularly impressive as Pant had previously sustained an injury while fielding in the first innings, raising concerns about his ability to bat. Despite enduring pain throughout his innings, he delivered a stellar performance that allowed him to surpass a record previously held by the legendary Viv Richards.

Pant Breaks Viv Richards’ Record, Creates History

This innings marked Rishabh Pant's fourth score of over 50 in the series against England, making him the player with the highest number of sixes in Test matches against England, overtaking the iconic Viv Richards. Pant has now hit 36 sixes against England, while Richards had 34. Tim Southee ranks third on this list, followed by India's Yashasvi Jaiswal.

First Visiting Wicketkeeper-Batter to Score 400+ Runs in a Series in England

Pant has also made history as the first visiting wicketkeeper-batter to accumulate over 400 runs in a single Test series in England, a feat no other wicketkeeper has accomplished before. In the ongoing series, he has scored 416 runs across three matches and five innings, boasting an impressive average of 85.5, including 44 fours and 15 sixes.

Misses Out on Third Century of the Series

Despite having already secured two centuries in the series, Pant narrowly missed his chance for a third. Attempting to take a quick single off Bashir's delivery, he was run out due to a spectacular fielding effort by Ben Stokes. Pant's innings concluded at 74 runs, which was a significant setback for Team India just before the lunch break.
